Employment Practices Liability

Employment practices liability (EPL) is employment-related liability, generally established by Canadian law, which gives rise to legal liability. It refers to liability stemming most often from discrimination in the workplace, sexual harassment and other employment-related conduct.

EPL claims are usually brought against employers or fellow employees, usually by other employee(s) and are related to conduct, policies or conditions, such as:

  • Failure to Hire
  • Wrongful Dismissal
  • Failure to Advance/Promote
  • Compensation Discrimination
  • Hostile Work Environment

We focus on internal risk management in order to prevent claims. We are able to provide sample employer HR handbooks, information (dos and don'ts) and a legal hotline for intervention as early as possible in the process.
